Share a home
Split a London rent with a mum who fits your budget, kids' ages and house rules.
Renting in London alone is hard. Raising kids alone is harder. MaMate finds you a mum nearby to share a home, swap help with the kids, or both. Every match is made by hand, and ID-checked mums get a verified badge.

School runs, clubs, evening cover, sick days. You help her, she helps you.

A real person reads your form. We'll email you soon to say hello and explain how matching works in your area.
You and another mum rent one home together, ideally both named on the tenancy, so you share the rent and the responsibility. Two families in one home often counts as an HMO (a house in multiple occupation), so the landlord has to agree and may need a licence. We only help with homes that are rented properly.
It can. When another adult moves in, you lose the 25% single person discount on council tax, though you'll split the bill. Universal Credit housing costs can change too. Check your own case with Citizens Advice or Gingerbread before you move.
You'll usually need your landlord's permission before anyone moves in, so ask them first. Swapping help with kids is open to everyone.
That someone is who they say they are. It is not a criminal record (DBS) check, so always get to know someone yourself before you trust them with your kids.
Use the report button in the app or email us. A real person reviews every report within 24 hours and can pause an account while we look into it.
If a child is in immediate danger, call 999. If you're worried about a child, the NSPCC helpline is 0808 800 5000. Then tell us, and we'll act on our side, including passing information to the police or children's services when needed.
We only ever show your postcode district, never your address. We use your details only to match you and email you about MaMate, and we never sell them. More in our privacy policy.
